Privacy Policy

Shreddy is operated by Steven Iverson in San Diego, California. We handle videos of people, so we want you to understand what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Contact hello@shreddy.ai about privacy.

What we collect

Account information: your email, username, and any name and profile photo you add. Sign in with Apple supplies an identity token, an email address (which may be an Apple relay address) and a one-time code. We exchange that code for an Apple token, stored encrypted, so we can revoke Shreddy’s access to your Apple ID when you delete your account.
Uploaded content: video and its recorded audio, reference images, rider tags, and the clips, images, tracks, overlays and measurements we produce. This may include people who do not have an account.
Setups and capture information: calibration markers, venue/run/feature selections, recording time, device identifiers and clock-sync samples. Location information can include precise latitude and longitude, altitude and heading, depending on permissions and the uploaded file. While recording, the app also records the camera’s compass heading and tilt so it can tell when the camera was moved. Setups and venues also record locations so nearby riders can find them.
Technical and safety information: app/browser version, operating system, device model, error messages and diagnostic context, service requests and security logs, content reports and blocks, moderation decisions about your clips, and when you accepted the community rules. The app also records usage events, such as opening the app, onboarding steps, signing in, starting or stopping a recording, and opening or sharing a clip, linked to your account or to your device before you sign in. Our hosting infrastructure may receive IP addresses with requests.
Messages, waitlist and news emails: what you send us for support, your email and signup source if you request launch news, and whether and when you turned on Shreddy news emails.

How we use it

We use this information to sign you in, process and measure your videos, display content, find nearby setups, provide support, protect the service, fix bugs, and meet legal obligations. Public content can appear in feeds, leaderboards, venue pages and link previews. Rider names come from profiles and tags supplied by users; video detection produces rider/bicycle tracks and measurements.

We use usage events to understand how people use Shreddy and to fix what confuses them, never for advertising.

We send sign-in codes, requested support replies, important service or policy notices, and launch news if you joined the waitlist. If you turn on Email me Shreddy news, we also send occasional emails about new features, bike parks and events. It is off unless you turn it on, and every news email has an unsubscribe link. We use necessary cookies to keep you signed in on the web, and browser storage for preferences and a diagnostic device identifier.

Your choice about AI training

Allow AI training is in the app’s Settings and the web’s Account → Preferences. The switch initially shows on, but we require you to save your choice before making your uploads eligible. If you allow it, public and private uploads and derived frames, labels and measurements may be used to train and evaluate models that improve Shreddy’s rider and bicycle detection and measurements.

Turning it off prevents your uploads from being selected for future training runs, including uploads you already made. Deleting your account also ends future eligibility. This does not undo training already started or remove what existing models have learned, subject to your legal rights. Normal video processing works either way. Public visibility does not by itself authorize training. Contact us about footage of you uploaded by someone else.

Who can see your content

New clips are public unless you choose Private for new clips in settings; you can change any clip later. Before your clips first go public, the app shows our community rules. Public clips can be viewed by anyone, including people without an account, and may show names, rider tags, recording information and the associated venue. Others can download, share or index public content.

Private clips are hidden from other users in Shreddy’s feeds and clip pages. Media files are stored privately and served only through links that expire within 12 hours. Someone who already has a link to a clip can keep using it until that link expires, including after you make the clip private. Changing visibility cannot recall downloads or third-party copies. Authorized operators and service providers can access content as needed for processing, support, safety and permitted training.

To keep objectionable content off Shreddy, we may review public clips before or after they appear, hold a clip from public view while it is reviewed, or decline to publish it. The owner still sees a held or declined clip, and the reason when we give one.

Setup reference frames, calibration information and locations follow the setup’s visibility, separately from a clip’s visibility. Venue, run and feature information is shared. A private clip does not automatically make its associated setup or venue private. Blocking applies to signed-in accounts; it does not prevent viewing public content while signed out.

We use Amazon Web Services for hosting, storage and related infrastructure, and Twilio SendGrid for email delivery. Video processing also runs on computing equipment operated for Shreddy. These providers receive the information needed for their services. We require providers handling information on our behalf to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law. Apple handles Sign in with Apple and App Store activity under its own privacy terms.

We may disclose information to comply with legal obligations, investigate abuse, protect people and the service, or handle a business transfer with appropriate privacy protections. Our service is operated from the United States; information may be processed there and where our providers operate.

Retention and deletion

We retain account and content information while needed to provide the service, unless you delete it sooner. Deleting a clip removes it from normal app views and schedules associated stored files for cleanup; a shared source recording may remain while it is needed for other clips from that recording.

Deleting your account removes your profile information, your captured clips and associated account data from the active service, queues associated stored files for deletion, and revokes Sign in with Apple access if you used it (retried automatically if Apple is unavailable). File cleanup is asynchronous and may retry after failures. Shared calibration and venue contributions used by others, limited financial or legal records, backup copies and cached copies may remain beyond account deletion. Backups follow their configured expiry; they are not used to restore an active account after a deletion request.

Support, security and diagnostic records are retained while needed to resolve issues, prevent abuse or meet legal obligations. Waitlist information is retained for launch notifications unless you ask us to remove it sooner. We cannot delete copies already downloaded by others or independently uploaded footage in which you appear. Contact us to request removal of that footage or a tag. Deleting your Shreddy account does not delete files in your Photos library.

Your choices and rights

Choose whether new clips start public or private, change any clip’s visibility, delete clips, block accounts and change your training choice. In the app these are under Settings; on the web under Account.
Turn Shreddy news emails on or off under Settings in the app or Account on the web, or use the unsubscribe link in any news email.
Delete your account under Settings → Delete Account in the app or Account → Delete account on the web.
Change camera, microphone, Photos and location permissions in iPhone Settings. Features requiring a permission may become unavailable; turning a permission off does not delete information already uploaded.
Email hello@shreddy.ai to request access, a copy, correction or deletion, to leave the waitlist, or to raise a concern about footage of you. You do not need an account to contact us. We may need to verify your identity without collecting unnecessary information.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy regulator. We handle requests under the law that applies to you and do not penalize you for exercising those rights.

Children

Shreddy is not intended for children under 13 or anyone below the applicable minimum age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from such users. If you believe a child has an account, or are concerned about footage identifying a child, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action. A parent or guardian should oversee use by minors.

Security and changes

We use encrypted connections and access controls to protect information, but no service is perfectly secure. The visibility limitations above still apply. We will update this page when our practices change, notify you of significant changes, and seek additional consent where required.
